Cahill Gordon & Reindel (New York): Chérie R. Kiser joins the firm’s media practice group as a partner in the Washington office. Kiser will focus on communications and regulatory areas. Previously, Kiser was a partner in the communications practice in the Washington office of Boston’s Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo.
DLA Piper: Michael Kagnoff, Martin Nichols, Jeffrey Thacker and Ross Burningham join the firm’s corporate and finance practice group as partners in the San Diego office. Kagnoff will focus on general corporate representation of established and emerging biotech, medical device and health care services companies. Nichols will focus on emerging growth and established technology companies in the “cleantech,” software, telecommunications and medical device industries. Thacker will focus on public offerings, private placements, venture capital, mergers and acquisitions and restructurings. And Burningham will focus on corporate and securities law. Previously, they were partners at Heller Ehrman.
Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton (Los Angeles): Robin L. Lewis joins the firm’s labor and employment and business trial practice groups as special counsel to the Santa Barbara, Calif., office. Lewis will focus on the areas of business, employment, condemnation and environmental litigation. Previously, Lewis was partner at Hatch & Parent. Before that, she was a psychotherapist for 14 years.
