The demands of parenthood are intense for all working mothers and fathers, but litigators have the extra pressures of mandatory court appearances despite pregnancy or new-parent responsibilities. As Law.com reported on July 20, a rule under consideration in Florida would require judges to grant motions for continuance for parental leave, barring exceptional circumstances. We reached out to litigators, past and present, who were expecting or caring for newborns while running a litigation practice. They recounted some of their biggest challenges.
