The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals reversed and remanded to district court the case of Andricka Stewart, a special education student, who alleges she was sexually assaulted at a Waco high school. Greg White, an appellate lawyer and Waco solo, argued for Stewart before the 5th Circuit.

Three Texas law schools saw major gains this year in their positions on the U.S.News & World Report annual rankings. "If you look at the numbers and you sort of see who's gone where, our guess is that employment has been a big factor — and it should be a big factor," says Richard Alderman, interim dean of the University of Houston Law Center.

Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law is looking for a new dean. The university is not renewing its dean contract with John B. Attanasio, which expires May 31. Attanasio is serving his 15th year as dean of the Dallas law school and nearing the end of his third five-year contract.
