State Bar Sues AG Over Letter Ruling Involving Document Release

The State Bar of Texas has sued Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, seeking relief from a June 28 letter ruling issued by the Texas Office of the Attorney General. That ruling calls for the Bar to turn over copies of bank statements and checks to a Texas Lawyer reporter.

Azar & Associates have settled litigation they filed on June 7 against a Texas video producer responsible for crafting the plaintiffs' memorable television commercials. While the parties say they have come to an agreement, the allegations in Brian Loncar, et al. v. IMGRP Productions Inc., et al. tell an interesting story about how lawyers market themselves on television.

Houston lawyer Jason M. Medley, as next friend to his daughter, has filed a libel suit on her behalf against three middle-school students who allegedly posted a video on the social networking site Facebook. The plaintiff alleges the defendants made "several statements alleging untrue facts, as well as other suggestive, derogatory, inflammatory and sexually explicit statements and gestures" regarding her in the video.
