Discipline: Lawyer Disbarred, Two Others Suspended

Cornelius A. Long of Harris County, Bar No. 00793182, was disbarred for alleged violations including neglecting a legal matter entrusted to the lawyer; frequently failing to carry out completely the obligations that the lawyer owes to a client or clients; failing to keep a client reasonably informed about the status of a matter and to promptly comply with reasonable requests for information; failing to explain a matter to the extent reasonably necessary to permit the client to make informed decisions regarding the representation; knowingly making a false statement of material fact or law to a tribunal; engaging in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit or misrepresentation; and failing to timely furnish to the chief disciplinary counsel's office or a district grievance committee a response or other information as required by the Texas Rules of Disciplinary Procedure.

The judgment, dated Aug. 10, 2007, orders Long to pay $1,340 in attorneys' fees and direct expenses to the State Bar of Texas, and $9,250 in restitution to a former client.

Long did not return a telephone call seeking comment before presstime on May 8.

Michael Robert Beliveau, Bar No. 24031732, was suspended for six months and 16 days and placed on probation for 36 months for alleged violations including neglecting a legal matter entrusted to the lawyer; and failing to keep a client reasonably informed about the status of a matter and to promptly comply with reasonable requests for information.

The modified judgment dated Jan. 23, "which replaces and supersedes the Judgment of Disbarment entered in this proceeding on July 17, 2007," orders Beliveau to pay $1,160 in attorneys' fees and direct expenses to the State Bar of Texas and pay $500 in restitution to a former client.

Brent A. Dornburg, Bar No. 24003930, was suspended for six months and placed on probation for 18 months for committing a serious crime or committing any other criminal act that reflects adversely on the lawyer's honesty, trustworthiness or fitness as a lawyer in other respects.

The agreed judgment, dated Feb. 15, orders Dornburg to pay $4,087.50 in attorneys' fees and direct expenses to the State Bar of Texas.

Jeffrey Mark Bragg of Collin County, Bar No. 02859100, was placed on probation for six months for failing to keep a client reasonably informed about the status of a matter and to promptly comply with reasonable requests for information. The agreed judgment comes after the Board of Disciplinary Appeals granted the parties' joint motion for reversal and remand of a May 29, 2007, judgment of partially probated suspension.

The agreed judgment, dated Feb. 29, orders Bragg to pay $3,400.49 in attorneys' fees and direct expenses to the State Bar of Texas and $5,000 in restitution, and to participate in the Law Practice Management Program, completing 40 hours in the program no later than Aug. 31.
