No award for alleged injuries, jury finds

On July 24, a jury declined to award damages to a woman who claimed neck and back soft-tissue injuries. Catalina Porras was involved in a three-car collision. She claimed that one of the drivers was speeding, and the other driver, Suzan Russell, failed to yield the right of way, causing them to collide and then hit Porras. The defense argued that Porras wasn’t truly injured in the accident, arguing that there were inconsistencies in her testimony about her injuries. Porras had an accident in 2000 and underwent chiropractic treatment. She had previously claimed that she had not had any previous motor vehicle accidents or chiropractic treatment, according to defense counsel. The jury found Russell solely to blame but chose not to award damages.
