What happens in Fort Worth doesn’t always stay in Fort Worth, especially when it comes to cases appealed to the 2nd Court of Appeals.

Of the 14 intermediate appeals courts in Texas, the 2nd Court transferred the highest number of cases to other courts of appeals between Sept. 1, 2011, and Aug. 31, 2012, the courts’ most recent term. That’s according to statistics from the Office of Court Administration, which show that the 2nd Court transferred 214 cases it had received to other courts of appeals during that period. That means a case filed in the 2nd Court during that period had a nearly 20 percent chance of being heard elsewhere.
