Parties settle over tractor-trailer rear-ender

On June 8, a passenger who claimed that a rear-ender with a tractor-trailer aggravated a pre-existing neck condition agreed to a $42,500 settlement. Linda Hogan was in the front passenger seat when her husband was merging onto an interstate. A truck driver for Ruan Transport Corp. struck them. She sued Ruan, alleging the driver failed to maintain a safe distance. She also sued her husband, claiming he failed to properly merge onto the interstate before establishing an assured, clear distance to do so. Her doctors said the crash aggravated pre-existing cervical disk bulges. Ruan Transport paid $30,000, and her husband’s insurer paid $12,500.
