Plaintiffs firm Brent Coon & Associates has filed a breach-of-fiduciary-duty suit against Arturo J. Gonzalez, a lawyer who formerly managed the firm’s downtown Houston office.

In Brent Coon & Associates v. Arturo J. Gonzalez, et al., Beaumont-based BCA alleges Gonzalez committed:

. . . breach of fiduciary duty, misappropriation of law firm assets, misuse of law firm assets, dereliction of responsibilities to client files, unauthorized referral of cases outside the firm, self-dealing, unauthorized and unapproved negotiation and re-negotiation of referral association fees, unauthorized reduction of firm fees on cases that belonged to the firm, unauthorized expenditures on cases, failing to properly and timely submit expenses on cases, unauthorized loans to clients, unauthorized payments of clients’ debts that had nothing to do with the development of lawsuits (including loans for cars, medical and other household needs), [and] unauthorized waiver of firm contingency fees. . . .
