In his first trial in which he served as lead counsel, Houston lawyer Tim Rothberg recently helped win $235,000 for his client in a deceptive trade practices and statutory fraud case.

Rothberg says he learned much during his time sitting second chair — knowledge he applied in Mohammed Shakarami v. Cynthia Tudon, et al. “It sounds kind of cliché, but I learned it helps to just be a regular Joe and have consistent eye contact with the jury, talk about things in terms of ‘us’ and ‘we,’ and get in that jury box as much as possible,” says Rothberg, an associate with Coats Rose Yale Ryman & Lee.
