Editor’s note: On March 21, the Texas Lawyer editorial department gathered two of the nation’s busiest patent jurists, Chief Judge Leonard Davis and U.S. Magistrate Judge John Love of the Eastern District of Texas in Tyler, along with U.S. District Judges David Godbey and Ed Kinkeade of the Northern District of Texas in Dallas, who are part of a pilot program that funnels patent suits to specific judges inside their jurisdictions, to talk about patent practice. The editorial department held the roundtable on March 21 at the Belo Mansion & Pavilion in Dallas.

Among other things, the judges discussed motions to stay a patent-infringement case for re-examination; Markman hearings; and the length of time it takes for patent suits to get to trial.
