Jan. 3 was a big day for Clint Broden. When he checked his email that morning, he learned that the Texas Board of Legal Specialization had approved him as board certified in criminal appellate law.

Then, an hour later, Broden received an email from the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals notifying him that the court had reversed and rendered his client Lakendrick “Pee Wee” Miller’s money-laundering convictions and 21-year sentence — a rare occurrence — as well as the convictions of appellant Tony Harris.
