Because of her propensity for songwriting, 359th District Judge Kathleen Hamilton jokes that perhaps she could have had a career writing greeting cards instead of in the law. But she says she made the right choice. "I feel so comfortable in what I'm doing, and it appears to be making a good difference in the lives I affect," Hamilton says, adding, "I would spend every moment in the courtroom if I could."

It was nearing Christmastime in 2002, and students at the College for New Judges were getting antsy after cramming for a week to prepare for their new benches.
So the group of 140 state judges was ready for some stress relief when 12 colleagues stepped on stage and soon-to-be 359th District Judge Kathleen Hamilton led them in her rendition of “The 12 Days of Christmas.”
