Jury awards $1,800 to plaintiffs for past medical expenses

On Aug. 16, a jury awarded $1,800 to a mother and son who claimed back and neck injuries in a rear-ender. In 2009, Hazel Baker and her son were in a compact car on Baker Boulevard in Fort Worth. While they were crossing an intersection on a green light, Jonathan J. Sweeney rear-ended them. Baker treated with a chiropractor for about 10 weeks. The defense argued minor impact. Photos showed little damage to Baker’s vehicle, and the damage was not repaired. The jury found only Sweeney negligent and that the damages were $1,500 for Baker and $300 for Deacon, for past medical expenses only.
