Lubbock County Court-at-Law No. 1 Judge Rusty Ladd died last Friday evening of injuries he suffered when his motorcycle was struck by another vehicle. He was 59.
David Slayton, director of court administration for the county, says Ladd was on his way to work the morning of Sept. 30 when the accident occurred. Despite being in pain, Ladd made sure hospital personnel contacted his court coordinator so she could notify people scheduled to appear in his court that day that they should not make an unnecessary trip to the courthouse.
