On Aug. 5, a jury found that a nursing home wasn’t to blame for an activities director who was fired following a state investigation. In 2005, Maria Villarreal was fired from the Valley Grande Manor nursing home. She claimed that she was terminated for cooperating with the state investigation. Defense counsel argued that Villarreal was terminated because the information she provided the investigators was false.
