Woman who alleged sexual jokes in office gets $55,000

On May 24, a woman who claimed that she was subjected to sexually derogatory language and jokes at an engineering firm before she was fired agreed to a $55,000 settlement. Jennifer Green was a computer assisted drafting technician for Childress Engineering Services in Dallas. She filed a claim with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for sexual harassment and was fired about a month later. She claimed that she reported the behavior to upper management before going to the EEOC, but no action was taken. She claimed she was terminated in retaliation for her EEOC complaint. The parties settled on the fourth day of trial.
