Nancy Hohengarten is a real Austin-type judge. The colorful art lining the walls of her courtroom may clue in lawyers and defendants about that fact. But if they knew of a small visitor sleeping in the judge’s chambers, they might realize Hohengarten belongs in Austin even more than they thought.
Even though the Travis County Court-at-Law No. 5 judge grew up in Denton, she has wholeheartedly embraced Austin’s culture. The obvious clue: nine posters in her courtroom from Austin City Limits. One year, she even took her staff to the world-famous music festival.
