A year ago, G. Michael O’Leary, a partner in Andrews Kurth in Houston, helped longtime client Hilcorp Energy Co. of Houston put together a joint venture with Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., to invest in the Eagle Ford Shale in South Texas.
That deal, announced on June 14, 2010, called for KKR to invest up to $400 million in Hilcorp Resources LLC, a newly formed partnership created to buy and develop Hilcorp’s oil and gas properties in the Eagle Ford Shale. Hilcorp’s contribution to the joint venture included 10,000 acres in the Eagle Ford Shale.
