On Dec. 3, an El Paso jury awarded $124.5 million in damages to plaintiffs in a wrongful-death and personal-injury suit stemming from a 2005 van accident in Colorado. However, several of the plaintiffs’ lawyers believe their clients’ recovery may be limited to the amount they can get under an endorsement on the defendant bus company’s business auto insurance policy.

Lisa Ball, who typically represents insurance companies in coverage cases involving personal and business automobiles, says it is uncommon for plaintiffs to have to rely on such endorsements.
