On Aug. 30, a jury awarded $1,000 to a woman who claimed cervical sprains in a rear-ender. In 2009, Latashia Scott was stopped at a traffic light when she was hit by Trenta Margiotta. She claimed that Margiotta failed to keep a proper lookout. Scott sought $13,000. Defense counsel argued that the collision took place at too low a speed to cause the claimed injuries and Scott’s medical treatment was excessive and unnecessary.
