On Aug. 4, AT&T Services Inc. agreed to pay $60,000 to an employee who claimed that he was denied a position in the company because he has type 2 diabetes. In 2007, Michael Rappe applied to be a splicer technician. The plaintiff claimed that the company violated the Americans With Disabilities Act by not hiring him. The plaintiff’s counsel noted that Rappe had performed a similar job for AT&T for many years after his diagnosis.
