When it comes to out-of-state firms operating in Texas, the biggest brought in the most money in Texas in 2009.
Jones Day, which had 252 lawyers in Texas as of Aug. 31, 2009, posted $155.2 million in gross revenue in Texas in 2009, down 5.3 percent from $163.9 million in 2008. That gross revenue puts Jones Day, which has offices in Dallas and Houston, at the top of the list of five out-of-state firms with the highest-grossing Texas operations in 2009. Others on the list are Weil, Gotshal & Manges, also with offices in Dallas and Houston; King & Spalding, which has offices in Austin and Houston; K&L Gates, with offices in Austin, Dallas and Fort Worth; and Hunton & Williams, which operates in Texas in Austin, Dallas and Houston. [See related charts.] The same five firms were on last year’s Texas Lawyer list of out-of-state firms with the highest-grossing Texas operations.
