In a campaign that will wind up this month, a mediator who says he wants to help lawyers in “tough times” and a litigator who says she is “extremely proud of her profession” are vying to become president of the State Bar of Texas in 2011.

President-elect candidates Bob Black, managing shareholder of Mehaffy Weber in Beaumont, and Debbie Bullion, a member of Gascoyne Bullion in Sugar Land, crisscrossed the state in March in an attempt to meet with as many lawyers as possible. State Bar members began voting in the election April 1 and have until 5 p.m. April 30 to cast their ballots.
