In a session more notable for bills lawmakers didn’t pass than for those they did, the Texas Legislature did the one thing it had to do before adjourning June 1: It passed the $182.3 billion appropriations bill to fund state government during the 2010-2011 budget period.

The Legislature considered about 7,400 bills during its 140 days in Austin and passed 1,459 of them, according to the offices of the House’s chief clerk and the Senate’s secretary. Gov. Rick Perry has until June 21 to veto, sign or allow bills to become law without his signature.
