Some lawyers live in fear. Cancer might not scare them. Maybe they shrug off global warming and snicker at that 18-wheeler riding their bumper all the way to the office. The one thing that makes them shiver is the dread that one day, one error too many by an inept legal assistant will expose them to a malpractice claim.
But perhaps the only thing lawyers fear more than mistakes is handling personnel problems. They don’t see themselves as managers. They want the human resources department to take care of it. But people in HR rarely have legal skills; their ability to coach paralegals and legal secretaries is limited at best.
