More than half of Am Law 100 Firms (57) posted declines last year in Compensation–All Partners, the average pay for a firm’s entire partnership, both equity and nonequity. It was the first time the average CAP dropped since 1995, the year it was first calculated. Nonetheless, 42 firms posted CAP of more than $1 million in 2008, just two fewer than in 2007.

Because this calculation takes both equity and nonequity partners into account, the numbers below are the most complete assessment of partner pay for The Am Law 100. Numbers on this chart are rounded to the nearest $5,000.
