This is a story about two trials that arose out of the same set of facts. It's about how, nonetheless, those trials had totally different outcomes. The trials involved one plaintiff-Rambus, Inc., a designer of high-speed memory chips-and two different defendants. Rambus had first charged both defendants with patent infringement, to which they responded by making the case that Rambus had improperly destroyed documents.
