The state House of Representatives approved a measure that helps prevent liens by subcontractors on commercial properties by ensuring that all subcontractors are paid at the completion of the job. At the last minute, the bill, HB 473, ran into opposition from some of the trade unions, leading the Democratic caucus to put up dozens of votes against it. It passed, 115-83.
