Although former Lackawanna County prosecutor Kathleen Kane had raised the most money out of those vying for Pennsylvania attorney general, the three candidates’ most recent campaign financial filings did little to settle who is out in front.

With about $2.09 million cash on hand, Kane finished 2011 with just about twice as much in the bank as her Democratic counterpart — former U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy — but did so with a $1.75 million loan from her husband. If diversity of sponsorship was any indicator of success, though, then Murphy, with $1.04 million in his campaign’s bank account and his 300-plus-page annual report, has a leg up on Kane.
