New Jersey medical malpractice plaintiffs’ lawyers will no longer need to agonize over whether they got an affidavit from the right kind of doctor, once a proposed rule change favored by the New Jersey Supreme Court becomes official.

A revision requiring a defendant doctor to state his or her specialty in answering a complaint is among the recommendations in the latest report of the Civil Practice Rules Committee, chaired by New Jersey Appellate Division Judge Jack Sabatino, which is open for public comment until April 2.
