Paul Mansfield, the only assistant U.S. attorney to ever be fired from the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, has lost his discrimination suit against the office.

After holding a bench trial that concluded Jan. 12, U.S. District Court Judge Legrome D. Davis issued an opinion Feb. 9 finding Mansfield did not show any evidence of retaliation by the office for his filing of Equal Employment Opportunity Commission actions after he was given different assignments upon returning from medical leave. Mansfield’s retaliation claim was the only one left in the case, Mansfield v. Holder , by the time it reached trial.
