The summer is now drawing to an end, and the thrill of college hoops and March Madness are long gone. However, one memory lingers from this past season: the six-foot, one-inch point guard from the University of Connecticut, Kemba Walker. This exciting star, who led his team to win the 2011 NCAA Tournament and was drafted ninth overall in the 2011 NBA draft by the Charlotte Bobcats, personifies the essential traits of the successful first-year associate: humility, generosity and heart.

In a joint ESPN interview — where he sat alongside 2011 number-one WNBA draft pick and fellow UConn athelete Maya Moore — and when drafted to the NBA with tears streaming down his cheeks, Walker was quick to point to others for his success. During the ESPN interview, Walker complimented Moore on her shooting ability and described her as “the star of this campus.” When asked about the interview by ESPN analyst Jeff Jacobs later on, he stated “Honestly, it was an honor.”
