The Democrats have gotten the jump on Republicans in joining the Pennsylvania attorney general’s race, giving rise to speculation that this could finally be their year to take the office, but political observers and the candidates themselves said the 2012 election is either party’s to win.

As of press time, Democrats Patrick J. Murphy, a former U.S. congressman, and Kathleen Granahan Kane, a former Lackawanna County assistant district attorney, wer13e the only candidates to have officially entered the race.
