Ruling on one of the hottest issues in student free-speech law, a federal judge has declared that middle school students in Easton, Pa., have a First Amendment right to wear rubber bracelets to promote breast cancer awareness that are emblazoned with the phrase "I [Heart] Boobies!"
Striking down a ban on the bracelets as unconstitutional, U.S. District Judge Mary A. McLaughlin found that school officials had improperly labeled the word "boobies" as lewd.
