Five Philadelphia-area law schools have dedicated an entire year creating the "Roe After 40" symposium. A panel of guests are set to scratch the surface in a 30-minute television program.
Tonight at 7 on the Philadelphia CNN-News affiliate WFMZ-TV, The American Law Journal presents "40 Years On: Roe v. Wade, the History and Future of Reproductive Rights." Host Christopher Naughton welcomes professor John Culhane of Widener University School of Law, professor Kimberly Mutcherson of Rutgers School of Law-Camden and Howard J. Bashman, a Philadelphia-area appellate trial attorney. Ilya Shapiro, editor-in-chief of CATO Supreme Court Review, joins the discussion from the CNN studios in Washington, D.C.
"Roe After 40," a six-part symposium conducted throughout 2013 by the law schools of Temple University, University of Pennsylvania, Widener, Rutgers-Camden and Drexel University, is the brainchild of Culhane and discusses Roe's impact on public health, reproductive rights and more. Mutcherson is also a symposium participant.
The Legal's senior staff writer, Gina Passarella, and Drexel University Earle Mack School of Law professor David S. Cohen comment on Roe's past and future impact in an opening feature report.
The program airs today at 7 p.m. and replays Sunday preceding WFMZ-TV news at 5:30 p.m. The show becomes available this week on www.LawJournalTV.com as well as YouTube.
