• On Wednesday, the Mazzoni Center is set to present its fourth annual Open Bar event to raise funds for and awareness about the agency's Legal Services, which is a program offering free legal services tailored toward low-income LGBT individuals in Pennsylvania. A CLE program is scheduled to run from 3 to 5:15 p.m., followed by a reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the National Liberty Museum, 321 Chestnut St., Philadelphia. • On Thursday, the Philadelphia Bar Association's Public Interest Section, Public Citizens for Children and Youth and the Economy League of Greater Philadelphia are scheduled to host a conversation with Georgetown University Law Center professor Peter Edelman. Registration and lunch are set to begin at noon at United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, 1709 Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Lobby 2 and 3. • On March 6, at a meeting of the Philadelphia Bar Association's immigration committee, HIAS Pennsylvania is set to offer a free CLE training program on U.S. citizenship procedures from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the 11th floor Committee Room South, 1101 Market St. Additional training programs are scheduled from 12:30 to 2 p.m. March 28 at Duane Morris, and a webinar training session is set to be offered from 2 to 3:30 p.m. April 11. One-and-a-half hours of free CLE credit will be provided to attorneys who attend one of the training programs and volunteer to help clients apply for citizenship during National Pro Bono Citizenship Day. • On March 12, the University of Pennsylvania Law School is set to host a panel presentation in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Gideon v. Wainwright from 4:30 to 6 p.m. (with a formal reception to follow) in the Fitts Auditorium, 3501 Sansom St., Philadelphia. The program is free and open to the public. • On March 15, the University of Pennsylvania Law School's Public Interest Week is set to culminate with the 32nd annual Edward v. Sparer Symposium from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Penn Law School, 3501 Sansom St. Registration and a continental breakfast is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. Lunch will be served, and a reception will be hosted following the symposium. • On March 18, Philadelphia VIP is scheduled to host its annual awards ceremony from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Wilma Theater, 265 S. Broad St. The event is by invitation only. • On March 20, Philadelphia VIP is set to present a CLE training program on "Landlord Tenant Law" from 12:30 to 2:45 p.m. at Blank Rome, One Logan Square, 130 N. 18th St. Attorneys participating in this seminar will receive two free CLE credits if they accept a VIP case within six months of the training. • On March 28, HIAS Pennsylvania and the Penn Law Immigrant Rights Project is scheduled to present the return of De Novo, a theater production written and directed by Jeffrey Solomon and put on by his New York City-based theater company, Houses on the Moon. The production is set to take place at 7 p.m. at the Penn Law School, Fitts Auditorium, 3501 Sansom St. Tickets cost $30 each and can be purchased at www.hiaspa.org/events/de-novo-at-penn.
