At 7 p.m. Monday on the Philadelphia CNN-News affiliate WFMZ-TV, The American Law Journal presents, "Physician Payment Sunshine Act: Ethical Necessity or Excessive Burden?"
Joining host Christopher Naughton are plaintiffs attorney Claudine Homolash of Sheller P.C., corporate defense counsel Raymond Williams of DLA Piper, as well as journalist and editor with Pharmalot and Med Ad News, Ed Silverman. Reshma Ramachandran, fellow with the American Medical Student Association, joins the panel from CNN-Washington explaining how marketing-based education is shifting at medical schools.
The Legal's senior staff writer, Gina Passarella, reports on the fallout from last year's $3 billion GlaxoSmithKline settlement with the U.S. government. The settlement revealed the drug company's $275,000 payment to celebrity physician Dr. Drew Pinsky for touting an antidepressant off-label for enhanced sexual and weight-loss benefits.
