William R. Herman, 66, a founding partner of Philadelphia firm Jacobs Singer Kivitz & Herman, died December 6.
A practicing attorney for more than 20 years, Herman was an associate at Dechert, a partner at Hoyle Morris & Kerr and a solo practitioner before joining Jacobs Singer, according to a biography from the firm.
He focused his practice on resolving complex commercial disputes, particularly for corporate insurance policyholders.
Herman previously worked for the Federal Trade Commission, the D.C. Public Defender Service and the U.S. Department of Justice.
He was a graduate of Yale University and Harvard Law School.
Herman is survived by his wife, Laurie Navin; two sons, Steven and Andrew Herman; two stepsons, Andrew and Samuel Navin; a stepdaughter, Caroline Navin; a sister, Jill Sharpe; and his former wife, Judy Snellenberg Herman.
