The conviction of four people in the Jenkens & Gilchrist/BDO Seidman tax shelter fraud case on Tuesday continues a long run of aggressive enforcement by prosecutors in New York against lawyers and other promoters of transactions that lack economic substance and are meant solely to generate paper losses.
Former Jenkens & Gilchrist partners Paul Daugerdas, 60, and Donna Guerin, 50, were convicted after a marathon trial, along with former BDO Seidman CEO Denis Field, 53, and Deutsche Bank Alex.Brown banker David Parse,49.
