Reporters and other courthouse regulars will still parse the case of three men charged in, but not with, the death of Washington lawyer Robert Wone. But former Arent Fox partner Joseph Price and his fellow defendants won’t have to persuade any jurors.

When the trial of Price, Victor Zaborsky and Dylan Ward kicks off May 17 in the District of Columbia Superior Court, there will be no jury. Judge Lynn Leibovitz approved a bench trial — at the defendants’ request — last week. The defense lawyers, including Bernard Grimm of Cozen O’Connor, Thomas Connolly of Wiltshire & Grannis and David Schertler of Schertler & Onorato, didn’t publicly comment on the request. Price, Zaborsky and Ward are charged with obstruction, conspiracy and evidence tampering.
