Nixon Peabody partner Kelly Kramer was also picked up on the wiretap targeting then-Rep. Rick Renzi, a House Republican who raised suspicion among investigators for a series of land deals. Laura Miller, who chairs Nixon’s government investigations and white-collar defense practice, was on the wire.

In all, Renzi’s lawyers say the government recorded at least 50 privileged conversations and voice-mail messages between Renzi and defense counsel during the monthlong wiretap and that certain calls have been rolled into the criminal prosecution in the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona. Renzi is charged with crimes that include wire fraud, money laundering and extortion.
