A Colorado federal judge has ordered computer system maker Biax Corp. to pay nearly $2 million in Sony Corp. and Nvidia Corp.’s legal fees on the ground that Biax acted in bad faith by prolonging a patent case against them.

In Biax Corp. v. Nvidia Corp., District of Colorado Judge Philip Brimmer on Monday ordered Biax to pay fees covering its opponents’ work from June 23, 2011, when BIAX’s expert conceded that the accused devices didn’t infringe all of the patent claims, to March 26, 2012, when the court entered summary judgment to Sony and Nvidia.
