He focuses on food and drug law with an emphasis on regulatory law and intellectual property. Previously, he was counsel to Sidley Austin. Diane Shapiro Richer, 53, has joined Ober, Kaler, Grimes & Shriver's Washington office as principal in the real estate and finance group. She represents clients in a wide range of real estate matters. Previously, she was a partner in the real estate group at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman. She earned her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
PALEY ROTHMAN
James Rathvon, 61, and Cristen Rose, 39, have joined Paley Rothman's Bethesda, Md., office as partners in the regulatory law and litigation practice. Rathvon has joined as chairman of the new group and focuses on the regulation of pesticides and other chemical products and environmental law. Rose focuses on commercial and business litigation, environmental matters and regulatory compliance. Previously, both were partners at DLA Piper. Rathvon earned his J.D. from George Washington University. Rose earned her J.D. from the College of William and Mary Marshall-Wythe School of Law.

Michael Paddock, 37, has joined Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman's Washington office as partner in the health care practice. Paddock will focus on health care fraud and abuse matters. Previously, he was a partner at Crowell & Moring. He earned his J.D. and LL.M. from Boston University School of Law and Loyola University Chicago School of Law, respectively.

Todd Lard, 49, has rejoined Sutherland Asbill & Brennan's Washington office as partner in the state and local tax practice. Previously, he was vice president and general counsel at the Council on State Taxation. He earned his J.D. and LL.M. from Oklahoma City University School of Law and Georgetown University Law Center, respectively.
