Wyrick Robbins's Jimmy Yates
Wyrick Robbins Yates & Ponton, a 73-attorney law firm based in Raleigh, N.C., has acquired a four-lawyer shop focusing on financial services clients.
Joining Wyrick Robbins from Gaeta & Eveson are Todd Eveson, who leads the banking and financial institutions practice, and Tony Gaeta, now of counsel. The acquisition, effective on March 1,was billed as enhancing Wyrick Robbins' capital markets and mergers and acquisitions practices.
Established in 1979, Wyrick Robbins focuses on corporate transactions and litigation. Clients come from the venture capital, private equity, life sciences and clean technology sectors. Gaeta & Eveson was formed in Raleigh in 1999.
Eveson is a graduate of University of North Carolina School of Law and is licensed in North Carolina and New York. Gaeta, a graduate of the College of William and Mary Marshall-Wythe School of Law, was general counsel to the North Carolina Bancshares Corp. and also has practiced at Moore & Van Allen and Simpson Thacher& Bartlett. He is an adjunct professor at the University of North Carolina law school.
Wyrick Robbins managing partner Jimmy Yates said the attorneys' expertise in regulatory matters would boost his firm's financial services practice.
"Plus, they are simply great people, and that is equally important to us," Yates said in a press release. He was not immediately available for comment.
