A Boston federal judge has sentenced Catherine Greig, the girlfriend of mobster James J. “Whitey” Bulger, to eight years in prison, plus a $150,000 fine for enabling him to remain a long-time fugitive from the law.

On June 12, Judge Douglas Woodlock of the District of Massachusetts sentenced Greig for helping Bulger hide for 16 years, mostly at an apartment in Santa Monica, Calif. Woodlock also sentenced Greig to three years of supervised release and an additional $300 — a $100 special assessment for each of three charges. The government sought 121 months, or about 10 years, while Greig asked for 27 months.
