There was no trial for the Ted Stevens prosecutors. There was no public proceeding to rebut allegations that government lawyers intentionally kept secret information that would have helped the Alaska senator defend against public corruption charges.
When a special investigator tasked with examining prosecutorial abuses against Stevens submitted his report to a judge last November, the U.S. Justice Department attorneys involved in the case had not been allowed to read and respond to the 525-page document.
