A Department of Labor regulation requiring companies to log work-related injuries, deaths and illnesses is a “garbage in, garbage out” system that poorly detects workplace hazards, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit has ruled.
On March 20, the 7th Circuit vacated a Labor Department ruling against Caterpillar Logistics Services Inc. based on that regulation and granted the company’s petition for review of a decision by the Occupational Safety and Health Commission.
