Eric Levine of Brookline, whose license was suspended in 2003, was sentenced in January to 12 years in prison for running a mortgage fraud ring. J. Daniel Lindley of Jamaica Plain, whose license was suspended in June 2010, was sentenced in November of that year to 72 months in prison.

Levine appealed a November 2010 denial by District Judge George O’Toole Jr. of his motion to conduct an evidentiary hearing concerning an alleged conflict of interest created by a romantic relationship between a defense team member and a U.S Postal Inspector on the government’s team. Levine also appealed the enhancement of his sentence.
