Instead of nursing hangovers or sleeping in, the eight Northwestern University law students in Paul Chadha’s class have been spending their Saturday mornings hashing out a complex business deal.

The students taking International Business Law and Negotiations are representing KHJ Pharmaceuticals, a fictional drug company that is attempting to establish a supply of cassava extract — a key ingredient in a new drug the company hopes to manufacture — from a consortium of farmers in the made-up African nation of Malundia.
